Frequently asked questions

UAE emissions reports

Do small companies have to report?

Yes. The law has no minimum size and covers any public or private entity that releases greenhouse gases, including free zone companies. An office that pays an electricity bill is in scope.

What are Scope 1, 2 and 3?

Scope 1 is fuel and gas you burn or leak yourself. Scope 2 is purchased electricity and cooling. Scope 3 is everything else in your value chain, such as water, waste and flights.

Is Scope 3 mandatory?

Not yet. It is expected from 2027 but is not confirmed in law. You can include it now.

Which bills do I upload?

For Scope 1: fuel receipts, gas invoices and air-conditioning refrigerant invoices. For Scope 2: electricity and district cooling bills. For Scope 3: water bills, waste invoices and travel records. See the Bills to Collect page.

What if a bill is missing for one month?

You choose: upload it later, type the number, estimate from your other months, mark it not available (counted as 0), or skip it. The report labels every estimate or zero, so a reader can see exactly what was done. Estimates and zeros may be questioned by a verifier, so use real bills whenever you can.

What if my bill is unclear?

We ask about that bill only. We show you where the number usually sits on the bill, and you type it in.

Which file types can I upload?

PDF, photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC from iPhone and Mac, TIFF, WebP, BMP), saved web pages (HTML), Word, Excel, CSV, text, emails (EML), ZIP folders, and Apple Pages or Numbers files where a preview is stored.

Does DecarbOS file on my behalf?

It depends on the service you choose. With Self-File, you or your authorised person files on mrv.ae with an approved account, and DecarbOS prepares the report in the portal's order and tells you exactly what to enter. With the "We File For You" service, our named staff register your company and submit the data for you on mrv.ae, under the Letter of Authority you sign; you do not need to log in to the portal yourself. We never ask for your password.

How long is my data kept?

Records must be kept for at least 5 years. DecarbOS keeps your bills and data securely in the UAE for 7 years.

Do I need a verifier?

Third-party verification is required for organisations at or above 0.5 million tonnes CO2e of Scope 1 and 2, and for Abu Dhabi facility operators from 2027. We found no published requirement for smaller organisations. Larger accounts can share a read-only verifier link.

Can I reuse my data next year?

Yes. Download the Excel workbook, fill it during the year, and upload it next year. Your past reports stay in your account.

Is my data safe?

Files are encrypted when stored, passwords are hashed, access is logged, and data is hosted in the UAE. Bills are read by software on our own servers, so they are not sent to an outside AI service.

Physical climate risk reports

What is a physical climate risk report?

It describes the climate hazards at your location, such as heat, water stress, floods, dust and sea-level rise, using satellite and official data, and explains what they mean for your facilities.

Which locations can I get a report for?

UAE sites only: Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

Why does the site check data before I pay?

We check each part of the report first. If a location has only some data, we tell you what is available and offer a reduced price for those parts only. You pay only if you agree.

Can I add my company logo?

Yes. Upload your logo when you generate the report and it appears on the cover and every page.

Do I pay tax on a climate report?

Yes. 5% UAE VAT is added to the price and a tax invoice is issued.

How is the report delivered?

As a PDF in your account and by email, once you accept the terms and click Generate.
